HONEY small

“Hello, my name is Honey and I am a member of Greasepaint. I am writing to tell you about what a GREAT PERFORMING ARTS group we are!!
As members of Greasepaint we are able to enjoy activities like singing, dancing and acting. In July this year we all gave a great performance of Wind in the Willows, and I played Badger!
As Head Girl at Greasepaint I am responsible for looking after the younger children and helping them to sort out any problems they may have.
Every week I get to see my friends and play great games and activities. Everyone is really fun, helpful and friendly.
So if this sounds like fun, why not come and join in with us!”
Honey Stone aged 10

A few testimonials from parents and teachers…

‘My daughter joined Greasepaint on their opening morning and has been with them ever since. I love the attitude of the staff and the fact that there is a very down-to-earth atmosphere in the sessions – all too often the performing arts can be pretentious and overly competitive. Greasepaint is not like this at all! My daughter loves going and to put on a full scale performance after just one year was a great experience.’ Mary, mum of Emily aged 7

“We are so pleased we discovered Greasepaint Academy! Rachel, Lucy & Louise show such warmth and support toward their students and their dedication and enthusiasm knows no bounds – we along with our daughter Annie are thrilled she is part of the academy!” Sam, mum of Annie aged 10

Greasepaint has given our pupils a great introduction to the world of drama and music, in a fun, practical way.  The pupils developed in confidence through attending the club, and it was very popular with all who attended.” Mr Paul Henry, Head of Acle Primary School

A little bit about us…

Greasepaint has been set up to provide a fun, friendly and engaging environment where young people between 4 and 18 years old can express themselves creatively, while learning industry skills and techniques. We believe that all children are unique and have different talents, and therefore strongly believe in equal opportunities for all ages and abilities. At the end of the training we provide, the goal is for everyone to be able to sing, dance and perform to their fullest potential!

Our mains aims are to:

  • Build confidence, self assurance, tolerance and trust
  • Encourage an enthusiasm to try new things
  • Improve on articulation, posture, listening, co-ordination and communication
  • Build a colourful imagination
  • Develop talent
  • Make new friends and have lots of fun!

Workshops include the very popular Street Dance and Modern Chart Song Singing, Musical Theatre and Acting – and we actively welcome suggestions for further classes from the students themselves too. We encourage children to take part in end of term show cases as well as main summer productions, and every child who takes part receives a personalised certificate to celebrate their achievement. We also have plans in the pipeline to be able to include exclusive video, television and film workshops for the 7-18 year olds which will make us stand out from other schools. Sessions will focus on a range of topics such as TV presenting and music video making, with the choice of having a DVD complete with all the projects your child has been working on to show the rest of the family.

Tutors are selected not only for their training, experience and talent in their specific subjects but also for their passion, enthusiasm and hunger to inspire and encourage others (All tutors are Enhanced CRB checked). Each group has a maximum of 15 students in it to ensure children receive the high level of personal attention required to reach their full potential. As tutors we feel it is important to keep parents up to date with their child’s progress, therefore we will provide you with a termly summary by email to let you know what they will be working on in each class, plus feedback sheets at the end of each half term – although we are of course always happy to chat should you wish!

For pupils wishing to be entered into LAMDA Acting (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) and Rockschool Vocal exams training can also be provided. Please ask for more details.

For those serious about pursuing a career in the entertainment industry, we are able to offer students the opportunity to join our casting agency (at no extra cost) after enrollment onto a second term.

… and finally

We also produce a Greasepaint Performance Academy quarterly Newsletter which you can subscribe to – letting you know of any forthcoming events, exams and festivals, as well as Academy and pupil information – so look out for that too!
